okay i think we should be good. anyway to everyone who's not sionainn: hello! ohhhhh my god i just saw someone walking an absolute baby puppy outside.
the holiday season is Upon Us and that means gifts! i really love gifting people, especially my friends, because i get to choose stuff i think they'd like. not to toot my own horn but i like to think i'm pretty good at this and it's always fun to pick stuff out.
i'm doing a secret santa with some friends this year, but outside of that, i also picked up a surprise for my friend sionainn. she watched a lot of my little pony: friendship is magic this past summer (or winter, because she lives in australia) and i know she likes applejack, so when i saw a happy meal AJ figure at the antique store with some wonk paint i thought... hmm... and then i thought some more... hmmmmmmm...
so now i'm working on my first ever pony repaint! i've only repainted fashion dolls in the past, which is a larger scale and in my opinion gives me a bit more freedom to do things in my own art style, but it's been fun noodling around in my sketchbook until i got the distinctive MLP:FiM eye shape down. the applejack i got had a sculpted plastic mane but a rooted (and poor quality) tail so i'm also going to be sculpting her a new tail out of foam clay, which i'm kinda nervous about, but the mane sculpt is simple enough that i think i should be able to match it pretty easily! it really is fun to branch out and try something you wouldn't normally go for once in a while, especially when it's for a friend. i might keep my eye out for a rainbow dash of similar scale, because that's sionainn's other favorite pony if i remember correctly.
