welcome to jouxlsworld!

comprehensive and objectively correct reviews of all the x-men films

many thanks to my friend anderson for setting up the screenings and putting the movies into some kind of chronological order!

movies i missed because i was not in the server yet or was too shy to join the vc

i've seen origins and x1 now, so the only one i'm missing is x-men: first class. i know that one's gonna put me in the washing machine spin cycle

x-men origins: wolverine (2009)

finally got around to watching this one on my own. i didn't think it was quite as bad as it's made out to be tbh! deadpool is always a welcome guest here at jouxlsworld even if they did revoke his mouth privileges after maybe 10 minutes. i liked that he was the team's translator. also kayla emoji of two hands forming a heart shape to indicate affection love u queen. this one might be peak logan hair for me? overall i had an ok time. i reeeeeally couldve done without the fat shaming though

x-men (2000)

watched this one with 2 of my very dear friends and we enjoyed it a lot! love how quickly they establish that logan is the world's fakest idgafer. pretty good with all the other characters too. #myhouseandschool

x2 (i forgor what year)

lalala funnnnnn!!!!

x-men: the last stand (im gonna stop doing years until i can remember)

everyone was acting kind of weird in this one. i havent seen community but to me this is the xmen equivalent of "the gas leak semester"

the wolverine

i got to look at logan a lot so i liked it. hi yukio 1.0

x-men: days of future past (2014 i think) (the rogue cut)

me when im in an "incomprehensible timeline" competition and my opponents are the xmen movies and fnaf

but actually i liked this one a lot even though i spent most of it super confused. maximum divorce energy from charles and erik here love to see it. this too is toxic yuri. probably #1 on my want to rewatch list

x-men: apocalypse (2016)

i had a lot to say about this bad boy apparently. there were several things i enjoyed about this movie and they are as follows:

however there were also several things i did NOT enjoy about this movie. actually more than several and i more than didn't enjoy them. welcome to the hatery

dark phoenix (2019)

the vibes were very weird here... for one thing they didn't even put x-men in the title they just didn't care at this point i fear. i think they just don't know how to write jean. they need to stop letting that woman get on airplanes literally nothing good ever happens. once again i thought erik was very well written here but it sucks that they couldn't have put that same energy behind writing the character for whom the movie is named. not a super satisfying conclusion to the franchise tbh i kind of feel like they could have stopped at dofp? although this one did make me appreciate apocalypse a lot more in hindsight and you can decide for yourself what this implies about the quality of either film. congratulations to the x-men film franchise for setting the world record of Longest Parent Trap Scheme With Most Casualties Sustained

deadpool (2016)

i like him hes like an oomf to me. negasonic teenage warhead you will always be famous hand heart emoji again

new mutants (2020)

society doesn't want you to know this but this movie is awesome actually. no it doesn't feel like you're watching an x-men movie but sometimes things that are different are interesting! i liked the horror/mystery tone of this a lot and i loooooove the characters. if you're interested i strongly recommend looking at content warnings as there's some pretty heavy scenes in this movie but imo they were handled reasonably well. i seriously wish they hadn't fumbled the marketing AND delayed the release until after dark phoenix which was supposed to be the finale of the fox x-men series AND finally dropped it into theaters right before the initial COVID lockdown because like i said the characters here are awesome and i would love to see a sequel or series, but that's probably way off the table at this point. whatevar

logan (2017)

ok this one is totally on me because i did not do my research before watching but if things such as Knowing You're Losing A Loved One While Not Being Able To Do Anything About It and/or Sole Responsibility and/or Living With Regrets are bad for you maybe don't watch this movie. unrelated i only saw like 20 minutes of it. and by unrelated i mean directly consequential thereof
don't worry i'm ok! /gen

deadpool 2 (2018)

very fun! and also at some points very harrowing. disney where is russell i would like to see him. also YUKIO!!!!!

deadpool & wolverine (2024)

this is the only one of these movies i'd seen before, albeit with an exactly 2 month break in the middle. glad to report it was still fun in one sitting! great group watch tbh. i do hope they make an excuse to bring cassandra nova back at some point, because she's a very cool character and her back-and-forth with everyone was really good. the X-Montage over the credits did make me a little emotional this time i'm ngl

aaand we're done!

yes, sadly no more Thursday Night X-Men Appointment for jules. i do plan to rewatch at least a few of these asap and i'll try to write more detailed reviews when i do. again, thanks so much to anderson and everyone else in the server for introducing me to these movies!! i think i genuinely prefer them to the mcu for reasons i'd like to expand upon here at some point. and NO i am NOT going to watch doomsday hand heart emoji again but this time to indicate that i dgaf and am content with that
